My Journey So Far
When I started my first term at All in Actors, I was really excited to kick start my journey into actor training. I wanted to be open and ready to develop my skills in my artistry, as well as start to make new friends, learn new things about myself, and boost my confidence. I can safely say that in my first term with the company, my goals for myself have been set in motion. My progress in the last four months has made me feel so proud of myself. However, I didn’t accomplish all of this on my first day. At the start of the term, despite my eagerness to throw myself in the deep end and strike up friendships, my shy and sensitive nature got the best of me.
I really wanted to bond with my new-found peers, but I still wanted to be myself without false confidence. Luckily for me, I was in the perfect atmosphere to do this. All of the teachers and students were so full of kindness, that I was able to create unique loving bonds and have the support to open up at my own pace. Even when we had to move some of our classes online, the love and support that naturally fills the company made its way through our screens and made our isolation feel less.
“All in Actors has taught me that you can find strength in what others perceive as weakness. My sensitivity and perfectionism no longer hold me back as weaknesses but push me forward as strengths.”
My skills in acting have progressed at such an elevated pace that sometimes I even surprise myself. From working on the finer, small details like our breathing techniques to creating beautiful sequences of movement, I found that I’m really starting to develop the key skills of my craft in ways I haven't found in previous studies. My focus and drive have also grown and I’m so excited to continue to learn and develop my art form.
My confidence in my art, as well as in my personal life, has improved so much in the last four months. It has not only made my All in Actors family proud but my friends and family have expressed how much I’ve grown. The joy that fills me to say that, while I write this, is heartwarming. The skills that we've been taught aren't just for acting, they've helped me become more confident in my personal life. For me, a simple exercise in status has given me the confidence to go to job interviews and look into drama schools and on a rough day, simply get out of bed. I can say with confidence that “I’m a number 10”. That I am strong, brave and beautiful. Just the way I am.
Overall, in this last term, All in Actors has taught me that you can find strength in what others perceive as weakness. My sensitivity and perfectionism no longer hold me back as weaknesses but push me forward as strengths. The people I've worked with through All in Actors have given me skills that will help me get through life as a performer as well as an individual. And that I will forever be grateful for.
